Smart Philippines is testing their WiMax

MANILA, Philippines – Smart Communications Inc. has taken its first steps to massively deploying WiMAX technology across the country.

According to a reliable source, During his test the speed is around 3Mbps at 3km from the base station. I asked him if Smart will going to cap the speed and he said "YES". But the cap is according to the subscriber's plan. After the said test they are going to deploy the new hardware for QoS or Quality of Service. For Luzon subscriber will getting hardware from Motorola and for Visayas-Mindanao from Huawei.

Smart is the only mobile carrier in the Philippines that  uses HSPA "High Speed Packet Access" at 850Mhz and 20 in the whole world.
"With our HSPA, WiMAX, and Canopy networks blanketing the whole country, Smart will have a unique and by far superior combination of wireless broadband networks," Vea said.
"It has been our vision to provide Internet for all Filipinos — no matter where they are or what device they’re using," said Orlando Vea, Smart’s chief wireless advisor.

WiMAX is a wireless digital communications system, also known as IEEE 802.16, that is intended for wireless "metropolitan area networks". WiMAX can provide broadband wireless access (BWA) up to 30 miles (50 km) for fixed stations, and 3 - 10 miles (5 - 15 km) for mobile stations. In contrast, the WiFi/802.11 wireless local area network standard is limited in most cases to only 100 - 300 feet (30 - 100m). So even the last point of cellular signal can have internet access with Smart's 8,700 cell sites across the country, housing various network equipment, including antenna for GSM, HSPA and Canopy. Very soon, these same towers will play host to Smart’s extensive WiMAX network.

For the trial, Smart and Motorola installed the WAP 450 WiMAX Access Points equipment to a number of cell site towers across the country. The WAP 450 utilizes tower top power amplifiers that can be housed in a small cabinet, allowing for a compact cell site configuration.

How to: Sync Twitter with Facebook

I've been using apps that will sync my tweets to my facebook status but facebook is constantly changing their codes so that this apps will become ineffective. 3. Click Widgets,Facebook

4. Click the Facebook Application link and Install the Application.

Now you can tweet from inside facebook by going to the application you just installed. apps.facebook.com/twitter or from twitter.com

Flash 10.1 for Android beta unveiled

Abobe is pushing out of its Flash 10.1 playeralongside with Google's own beta for Android 2.2 "Froyo". By June we might see the full release. It will be available as a Marketplace download.

Adobe is trying to work with OEMs to possibly preload it on the devices so that will come by default.

With Android 2.1 "Eclair", Why not 2.1?

There are API changes in the OS that Flash is dependent on, and if we're able to find alternatives, then certainly we'd look to support Eclair as well. At this point, the APIs we need are only in Froyo. A good example is outside of the browser, our Air team have been working with Eclair and think they can continue to support a significant chunk of Air SDK. The Air SDK should be usable on an Eclair platform.

The Minimum requirement of Flash 10.1 for non Android devices:

CPU: 600Mhz +
RAM: 64MB for browser "allocated"

Impressions: Adobe Flash 10.1 Player beta on Nexus One with Android 2.2 OS Froyo

MajicJack

Just finished installing the MagicJack.

magicJack is a device that plugs into a USB port on the user's computer. It uses a standard RJ-11 phone jack into which any standard phone can be plugged. This allows the user to make phone calls to any phone in the U.S. and Canada for a fixed charge.

It is a computer peripheral that, in combination with telephony service from the related YMAX Corporation, provides Internet-based telephone service (VoIP) to the United States and Canada. The firm's primary product is a USB device that holds both the software necessary to place Internet-based telephone calls via a customer-supplied high-speed internet connection, and electronics (technically known as a SLIC, or Subscriber Line Interface) supporting conventional landline telephones to be plugged directly into same device. The products are promoted through television infomercials and a website.

The company's website attributes the invention of magicJack and the founding of YMAX to Dan Borislow, who has numerous patent claims pending on voice-over-IP (VoIP)-related technology.

The magicJack device works exclusively with the company's captive landline supplier and CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier), YMAX.

Cable Management "sleeves" D.I.Y

How to do cable management "sleeves" to your Generic Power Supply unit? This simple guide will help you clean your system case.

The problem with Generic PSU is that it has no sleeves unlike high-end PSU.

Another weakness of Generic PSU is that it is not modular. What is a modular PSU?It has a detachable rails where you can detach the unused rails thus helping you with unused wiring...

Now let's start do some sleeve to our generic PSU. There are stores that really caters to materials used in modifying, I myself is new to case modding but I am trying hard to perfect every job I do. The only problem right now for me is the lack of supplies so sometimes I have to get them online or not just some resourcefulness and improvise.

Materials for this project:
Electrical Tape - any color of choice
Cutter - to cut those tape.

Here's the unsleeve Generic PSU of mine, stock from Astone Casing...

Separating the rails from 24-PIN ATX:

Cover the 24-Pin ATX Wire with Electrical Tape make sure you tape it tightly. If loosely tight it will not last long and it will look not nice right.

We continue with our rail. Separate each rail, using cutter you can cut the plastic or zip-wire use so that you can separately tape each later on.

This is almost done, what I did was I added more tape on it. But this is okay already.

My Final Output

Now that the cable has been sleeved time now to do cable management from the inside of your system case. Basically all you need to do is to reroute all the wirings to places that it will not be cranky too look at. Try to tuck the wires "unused rails, SATA cable, IDE cable, FDD cable, etc" to the back of your mobo plate.
