Panda Security USB Vaccine - free anti autorun malware defense

If you are familiar with USB Disk Security that enables you to stop malware from infecting your system coming from removable drive like SD Card and Flash Drives. I stumbled a similar tool at Lifehacker called Panda USB Vaccine.

The Panda USB Vaccine will protect your system from autorun driven malwares in the following way: 

Panda USB Vaccine is a free solution designed to protect against this threat. It offers a double layer of preventive protection, allowing users to disable the AutoRun feature on computers as well as on USB drives and other devices:
Vaccine for computers: This is a ‘vaccine' for computers to prevent any AutoRun file from running, regardless of whether the device (memory stick, CD, etc.) is infected or not.
Vaccine for USB devices: This is a ‘vaccine' for removable USB devices, preventing the AutoRun file from becoming a source of infection. The tool disables this file so it cannot be read, modified or replaced by malicious code.
This is a very useful tool as there is no simple way of disabling the AutoRun feature in Windows. This provides users with a simple way of disabling this feature, offering a high degree of protection against infections from removable drives and devices.

Social Networking Views - a new malicious script?

Minutes after posting my tutorial on how get rid of the OMG Watch the Nastiest Girl Fight Video Ever! there's a new malicious script again keep popping on my notification. Though I have not tried getting the code since I am not on my test machine, this involves most likely a Cross-Site Scripting or XSS. Never to drag the code to your browser, if you do you will automatically download the malicious code.

Facebook will never make such application, if they do they will automatically integrate it to their site and will not undergo third-party installation and propagate without user permission.

If you are paranoid you scan your system against malicious code. If you do not have an Anti Virus download the Microsoft Security Essential and MalwareBytes. Both a free and they are good!

A word of caution, never click any link especially shortlinks coming from unknown sources. It may not do any harm to you but expect spam emails.

How to Stop Facebook Chat spam - receiving chat with malicious links

If you noticed recently that you are receiving Facebook chat with links on it? This are viral spam. The person who is sending you actually have no idea that he's sending such messages because his/her account has been hijacked.  Once click you will post the same message on your wall and you will also sending this via chat box.

The account can be hijacked by Phishers and if you accept application that is malicious. Some uses the "like pages", once you like certain quotes for example, inside of that, is a link directing to phishing site  once clicked it will automatically gather your information especially if you have not secured your facebook account.  Another is installing unknown apps, this apps also gather your account details and most of the recent hijacked account was through this method.

So how to stop  Facebook chat spam?

1. If you see a link post that says "click this",  "check this out", pornographic in nature post, chances are that this post are malicious. So do not click.
2. If you receive a chat with unknown links from a friend that says "click this",  "check this out", pornographic in nature post, chances are that this post are malicious. So do not click.
3. If your account has been compromised, check your application list here and delete the unknown application.
4. Change your password after deleting the applications and change your password regularly.
5. Use your common sense - don't just click and click...
