As a newbie web designer I am trying to find tools that will help me improve my design and and improve the usability of the website. Weeks and weeks of research I learned some few tricks to help optimize my my code and improve my design.
One part of this is CSS optimization. Why do you need to optimize your CSS code after you write it? Simple if you compress your codes like your CSS for example, the loading will be faster because of smaller file size thus saving bandwidth. This is not noticeable for low traffice site but for heavy traffic site every byte of bandwidth is crucial.
This are the some of the CSS optimizer I use:
CSSTidy is an opensource CSS parser and optimiser. It is available as executeable file (available for Windows, Linux and OSX) which can be controlled per command line and as PHP script (both with almost the same functionality).
Code Beautifier - is an online CSS optimizer, just paste your CSS code and it will optimize the code for you.
FormatCSS - another CSS optimizer and cleaner.

Facebook ranked No.1
According to Google’s AdPlanner stats, Facebook is the number one most-visited destination on the web. Weighing in at an unfathomably heavy 570 billion page views and 540 million users, the ubiquitous social network outranks every other non-Google site, taking more than 35% of all web traffic measured excluding Google.com and Youtube.com.
Among the top 10 only Wikipedia and Mozilla that remain ad-free.

When it comes to non-Facebook social media properties, Twitter ranks 18th with 5.4 billion page views, Flickr is 31st with 1.8 billion views and LinkedIn sits in 56th place at 1.7 billion views.
And the usual blogging sites make appearances, too. Blogspot is in 7th place, WordPress in 12th and Blogger in 53rd.
Firefox Announces iPhone App
Mozilla has announced plans to launch a free iPhone Application that will let you access most of your Firefox browser data on the iPhone. Called Firefox Home, the native iPhone app gives you access to your Firefox browser history, bookmarks, and Awesome Bar. Home will also sync any currently open tabs from Firefox on your desktop to the iPhone, giving you "on the go" instant access to important Web pages.According to the official Mozilla Blog the app will be submitted by June. At that point Apple will either approve or reject it. Firefox Home is designed for iPhone and Ipod Touch. No announcement yet for the iPad.
Firefox Home is not a full pledged browser like Opera Mini or Safari. Apple prohibits third-party applications from including their own rendering engine and JavaScript interpreter, according to Mozilla. Instead, applications must use the iPhone's technology for these processes, which basically means Firefox's underlying technology can't be used on the iPhone. Opera got around this problem by rendering Web pages on its servers and then sending the finished page to the iPhone. cnet
Firefox Home will also be a one-way channel, meaning you can send your desktop browsing information to your iPhone, but you will not be able to send data from your iPhone to desktop versions of Firefox.
One solution to the one-way data problem would be to build a JavaScript bookmarklet for Safari for iPhone that would let you sync your iPhone browsing data with Firefox; however, Mozilla says it has no plans to do this at the moment.

Android 2.2 "Froyo" is coming to Google Nexus One
With Google's flagship smartphone N1 or Nexus one will have the first taste of Froyo the latest Android Operating system. According to HTC spokeperson, that some of the supported devices will include the HTC Droid Incredible, HTC Desire, HTC Evo 4G, and T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Slide.
HTC will release a full list of phones and availability dates closer to launch but that it hopes to have all updates released by the second half of the year accoring to cnet. While T-Mobile G1 the first Android phone from HTC will not get the upgrade due to low Flash Memory.

Smart Philippines is testing their WiMax
MANILA, Philippines – Smart Communications Inc. has taken its first steps to massively deploying WiMAX technology across the country.
According to a reliable source, During his test the speed is around 3Mbps at 3km from the base station. I asked him if Smart will going to cap the speed and he said "YES". But the cap is according to the subscriber's plan. After the said test they are going to deploy the new hardware for QoS or Quality of Service. For Luzon subscriber will getting hardware from Motorola and for Visayas-Mindanao from Huawei.
Smart is the only mobile carrier in the Philippines that uses HSPA "High Speed Packet Access" at 850Mhz and 20 in the whole world.
WiMAX is a wireless digital communications system, also known as IEEE 802.16, that is intended for wireless "metropolitan area networks". WiMAX can provide broadband wireless access (BWA) up to 30 miles (50 km) for fixed stations, and 3 - 10 miles (5 - 15 km) for mobile stations. In contrast, the WiFi/802.11 wireless local area network standard is limited in most cases to only 100 - 300 feet (30 - 100m). So even the last point of cellular signal can have internet access with Smart's 8,700 cell sites across the country, housing various network equipment, including antenna for GSM, HSPA and Canopy. Very soon, these same towers will play host to Smart’s extensive WiMAX network.
For the trial, Smart and Motorola installed the WAP 450 WiMAX Access Points equipment to a number of cell site towers across the country. The WAP 450 utilizes tower top power amplifiers that can be housed in a small cabinet, allowing for a compact cell site configuration.
